We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Haithem Taha as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  Dr. Taha received from Cairo University the B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering , graduating first in his class; and the M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering. He obtained and additional M.S. degree aand his Ph.D. degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech. After his graduation, Dr. Taha has held the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Virginia Tech in Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics. Dr. Taha has also served as an instructor and research assistant at Cairo University and instructor at the German University in Cairo.

Dr. Taha's research interests include geometric nonlinear control theory; unsteady aerodynamics and aeroelasticity; optimization, calculus of variations and optimal control; flight dynamics and autopilot design; airplane performance and configuration aerodynamics. In academic year 2014-15 he is teaching MAE276 (Geometric Nonlinear Control, F14) and MAE175 (Dynamics and Control of Aerospace Vehicles). Visit his website to learn more.
