Pursuing Technical Excellence at Boeing

John J. Tracy

Boeing Senior Vice President

Engineering, Operations & Technology

With its history mirroring that of powered flight, Boeing’s pursuit of technical innovation and excellence has been responsible for producing the world’s first commercial airliners, jetliners and composite-bodied airliner – the 787 Dreamliner; early military bi-planes, today’s sophisticated military aircraft, and tomorrow’s unmanned combat air systems; and also the world’s first communications satellite, launch vehicles that put men on the moon, and the International Space Station to help expand our knowledge of the universe.  In this lecture Dr. Tracy will recap some of this history and where Boeing is today but, more important, will discuss how Boeing develops and pursues its technology strategy to meet aerospace challenges of today and the future.  His discussion will cover technologies being pursued for both near- and far-term solutions, as well as the technical skills that Boeing and other aerospace companies are looking for to help provide these challenging and complex solutions.
