Sigma Gamma Tau Aerospace Engineering Honor Society
Sigma Gamma Tau Pins & Stoles National Purpose of UC Irvine Sigma Gamma Tau Honor Society Chapter:
The UC Irvine Sigma Gamma Tau Honor Society Chapter exists to honor those students majoring in Aerospace Engineering who have exhibited outstanding achievements through their scholarship, integrity, and contributions. The Sigma Gamma Tau Honor Society seeks to promote a high standard of ethics and professional practice and create a spirit of loyalty and fellowship, particularly among students of Aerospace Engineering. Eligible students are seniors in the top third of their class and juniors in the top quarter of their class.

Requirements in Addition to Eligibility:
In addition to honor academic status and the aerospace engineering major, students who wish to join Sigma Gamma Tau must complete the following three tasks prior to initiation: 1. Professional: Attend one technical meeting in aerospace engineering or a closely-related specialization. This can be an AIAA technical meeting (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) or a related technical meeting with the approval of the President. 2. Community: Perform one community service event. This can be volunteering work or related work that shows your ability to contribute to the community. 3. Social: Participate in one social event related to aerospace engineering. Please be sure to check with the
Initiation Pins and Graduation Stoles:
The initiation pins and graduation stoles must be ordered through the National Office. The pins and stoles are shipped directly from the manufacturer to the chapter. Orders should be placed about 30 to 60 days prior to graduation in order to deal with delays in shipment or other unforeseen problem issues. If your order does not arrive within 30 days, please contact the National Office.
