| Mechatronic design is the integrated and optimal design of a
mechanical system and its embedded control system. Main focus of graduate study and
research is design, modelling, and characterization of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems
(MEMS). Particular emphasis is placed on analysis and design of algorithmic methods
and physical systems that realize sensor-based motion planning. Example devices are
high-precision microgyroscopes for inertial navigation; micro-mirror arrays for
optical telecommunication networks; and micro-fuel cells for autonomous power generation. |
